What is deep tissue massage?
Deep Tissue Massage is one of the best and most effective ways to treat pain and injury.
It uses firm-pressure designed to release tight layers of muscle and tissue, which usually develops from bad posture, injury or overuse.
Restoring movement in the soft tissues alleviates pain, muscle spasm and stress from the problematic area.
What conditions can it treat?
Deep tissue massage is very effective in treating chronic problems such as stiff necks, strained or twisted shoulder muscles, and lower back stiffness or pain.
It is also highly beneficial in reducing pain and discomfort in conditions such as whiplash and after a fall or an injury.
What should I expect during a deep tissue massage?
Trained therapists may use their hands, fingertips, knuckles even elbows, to effectively release areas of tension.
On occasion you may be asked to take a deep breath to help you to relax.
This deeper style of massage may sometimes cause DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) during, or in the days following the massage.
This is simply the muscles releasing stored tension and toxins and will fade within a few days
Deep tissue massage will:
- Relax stiff muscles to restore pain free movement
- Reduce muscle tension and chronic pain
- Relieve stress
- Un-stick tight muscles and free up creaky joints
